Stand Up to Cancer

On Saturday 15th August The Anchor will host 3 events to Stand up to Cancer. I know many local people have recently been touched, directly or indirectly, by this horrible disease. We hope that you will support our events to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The first event is a Family Fitness Walk, organised by Heather Ketcher and her family, This event is our way of saying thank you to Macmillan for their fantastic support and encouragement throughout, not only has Macmillan touched our hearts but many of you also, therefore please join us on the 15th September to show your support for such a wonderful cause.

The day will commence in the pub garden with a short warm up for those taking part in the walk. Once everyone is warmed up, we will leave the Anchor and set off on a 6K walk* together and then return to the Anchor garden for a delicious BBQ, refreshing drinks, some yummy cakes and live music.

This is a public event please invite your friends and family along. The more the merrier! Thank you for all your support.

*If you would like to join in with the walk, text your name and WALK to 07852913568.

Please note all people taking part in the walk will be exercising at their own risk.

WILL WHISSON - Will Whisson is a singer / songwriter from the UK. Born in Kent but raised abroad, he eventually returned to the England for a number of years before deciding to live out of a camper van in order to fully pursue his ambitions of becoming a full-time solo musician and songwriter. This approach to life has helped him build a profile across 10 different countries in the last year alone.

His original songs incorporate the rootsy sounds of artists like John Butler and Jack Johnson while his laid-back soft vocal and expressive guitar playing is reminiscent of more contemporary artists like John Mayer and Ben Howard.

On stage, Will showcases a wealth of guitar playing techniques (that include, looping, soloing and percussive playing) while his unique vocal and the addition of his harmonica all help to make his sets dynamic and exciting.

With Record of the Day predicting - ‘he’ll be winning lots of new friends in 2017 with this simply gorgeous blend of organic folk-tinged pop,’ Will continues to relentlessly tour across Europe over the next year with a sound that is one of optimism, positivity and freedom
